Micro Combined Heat & Power (CHP) is the simultaneous production of heat and electricity in individual homes.  Effectively the micro CHP unit replaces the gas central heating boiler and provides heat and hot water as usual, but additionally provides the majority of the home's electricity needs.  It is anticipated that, ultimately, micro CHP may provide 20% or so of the UK's electricity generating capacity, more than is currently obtained from nuclear power.  The following articles describe the technical, economic, social and environmental aspects of this technology in greater detail.

Introduction to micro CHP

What is micro CHP and what can it do for me?

Micro CHP for social housing

A simple introduction to what micro CHP can do to alleviate fuel poverty

Micro CHP for house builders

An outline of micro CHP and the potential benefits for the housebuilding industry
